Light pumps in the earpieces send and refract light down the lens. This moves the electronics away from the eyes, offering a lighter, more streamlined experience. The lenses are transparent and display an apparent 87-inch screen about ten feet away. Because each eye display works independently, you can also view 3D video.

Future Riot Shields Will Suffocate Protestors with Low Frequency Speakers

” … It’s not the first crowd control tool to use sound waves, but Raytheon’s patent for a new type of riot shield that produces low frequency sound waves to disrupt the respiratory tract and hinder breathing, sounds a little scary. … “

” … Crowd control tools like the LRAD Sound Cannon emit bursts of loud and annoying sounds that can induce headaches and nausea. But Raytheon’s non-lethal pressure shield creates a pulsed pressure wave that resonates the upper respiratory tract of a human, hindering breathing and eventually incapacitating the target. The patent points out that the sound waves being generated are actually not that powerful, so while protestors might collapse from a lack of oxygen reaching their brains, their eardrums won’t be damaged in the process. Phew! … “

It takes two seconds! **what?

Sign this Petition! It takes two seconds! **what?:
gurl, where have you been? you should have signed that petition, like two years ago. I don’t have a problem with this, except for outdoor lighting. when I walk outside I need light fast. CFL’s don’t cut it and I don’t want to pay $30 for one LED light.

girlwithathoughtopinions:

Liberal Congress has gone crazy! They are banning 100 watt light bulbs! What the heck!

Without 100 watt bulbs, we will have no easy bake ovens!

But seriously, this is ridiculous. We need Congress to understand that there are some places where the government really should not have authority. This is an abuse of the system. Why is Congress wasting time banning 100 watt bulbs? Taking away something so simple like the 100 watt bulb is just immature to say the least. They are bowing to radical environmentalist.

Tell them to stop.

revolting-revolution:

multiplereflections:

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

4 minutes later:
The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:
The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.

*In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

*Do we stop to appreciate it?

The questions raised:

*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made…

How many other things are we missing?

The Man with the violin is Joshua Bell with a Strad.

When a solid object is driven into a quiescent liquid, a cavity is formed. As the cavity collapses jets—a type of singularity—form. In this video, researchers explore the effect of the geometry of a disk being driven into water on the shape of the cavity formed and how it collapses.

TED:
Britta Riley: A Garden in my Apartment

Britta Riley wanted to grow her own food (in her tiny apartment). So she and her friends developed a system for growing plants in discarded plastic bottles — researching, testing and tweaking the system using social media, trying many variations at once and quickly arriving at the optimal system. Call it distributed DIY. And the results? Delicious.

This is awesome stuff. Hopefully sometime in December I’m gonna tinker around and see if I can build my own.. or maybe just buy a kit if I can scrounge some cash =D

I have a solution!

replantable Christmas trees! Not a new idea by itself, but wait….

problem: you have to replant the tree when you are done=work. in winter. not cool.

problem: what then? let it grow and harvest it later? nope.

problem: I live in the city, where the hell do I plant it?

Here is my plan. read close.

What if you got the same tree for Christmas every year? pretty cool. It has more value (sentimental) every year it is used. How cool would it be to have a 30 yr old tree, the same tree you have always had, for Christmas? Quite a tradition.

Won’t it get too big? nah. I got that covered.

Where do I put it? For me, I could put it in my back yard. For a business, you would need to replant your sales. That means a truck. When the customers come back, give them the same tree they got the year before. Wouldn’t you rather pay $30 for the same tree, still alive, than a new (soon to be dead) tree?

problem: collecting the trees takes time and money. Yes it does, but if you don’t need acres and acres for a tree farm and you don’t need to replant saplings, then it may be a wash on the money. And you should have a loyal customer base.

I did not include all of the details. There are some ideas on customer service, branding, and some other things I didn’t lay out here, but I think the basic concept is good. msg me if you got input.
